Woodlands Break-ins: How to Stop?

It is reported that homes in the Woodlands (north of Houston) have been broken into by a burglar who stole TV's, jewelry, etc. How can you stop that?

Simple. We put our security film on a lady's home last summer. Five (5) days later someone tried to break in, and FAILED. She said he broke the outer pane and managed to make a two-inch hole on the inner pane that had the film attached, but he gave up and went away.
