McAllen HAIL Damage - Except for Armor Glass clients

Here are some photos of the HAIL damage in McAllen TX from a freak storm yesterday.
The only ones who escaped damage were those who had our Armor Glass security film installed!

Hurricane Wind Scale Changed

The government is making slight changes to the wind scale for hurricanes:

"The Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale ranks hurricanes in five categories based on their wind speed.

The National Weather Service says an adjustment is needed to ensure the smooth conversion of units of wind speed measurement for public advisories.

The change broadens the Category 4 wind speed range to 130-156 mph, instead of 131-155 mph. That shifts the Category 3 range to 111-129 mph, instead of 111-130 mph.

Category 5 hurricanes will have top winds of 157 mph or higher, instead of a threshold of 156 mph.

Categories 1 and 2 remain unchanged. No historical storm records will be altered."

Project Safe Windows was a study of the 2004 hurricanes that hit Florida. It found that window blow outs from wind-borne debris led to roof loss and structural failure.

Nat'l Hurricane Center: Forget Taping Windows

The National Hurricane Center released a statement that says people should forget about taping windows in even of a hurricane. Why? Because "it provides a false sense of security."

We agree. Bits of tape won't keep windows from becoming shards of glass if hit by wind-borne debris.

But our Armor Glass security film does - it "armors the glass" to make it an impact resistant window, at a fraction of the cost of impact resistant windows.

How does it do that? By covering the ENTIRE window with a thick, protective layer of polycarbonate film that has been tested to prevent breach by Large Missile impact (Level C 4.5 lb) or even an explosion.

In our experience it has also prevented burglars from breaking through the glass. Check out our videos on the website at www.ArmorGlass.com

Study: More Extreme Weather the Past Decade

A new study says that we have had more extreme weather the past decade.

More extreme weather means a greater need to protect your home and business from it. Deny the cause if you will, but the result is the same - more powerful storms, more damage to houses that have not "armored their glass."

This of course doesn't include such human activities like burglaries, which are dramatically up.

We have had a number of clients who have had everything from golf ball hits to attempted burglaries. In each case, they were not able to penetrate our Armor Glass security film...

Armoring the Private Castles of Those Who Serve Us in our Armed Forces

Today we armored the house of a military officer who was one of the few worldly intelligent people I have met lately. No flies on anyone else, but he speaks Chinese and spent time in places like Japan, Europe, etc. so he actually KNOWS things other than the usual person I meet who may be the best businessman, teacher or astronaut, but few people have the world knowledge of someone like this.

For me, it was a fascinating conversation. This wonderful business that both saves people energy costs and protects their family has given me the unique and appreciated opportunity of talking to some remarkable people, like the retired International Space Station executive who told me about dropping heavy plywood on his sprinkler one year as he tried to get it on his second floor as a hurricane approached - as we are installing our Armor Glass Security film in his house. Today it was all about BURGLARY protection. And Solar Heat relief.

Now another one of America's finest has Armor glass protection and can do his duty knowing his castle is much more secure...but not only his castle more secure, but so is the castles, small medium and large of of a lot of regular folks we respond to every day...it is still the least costly alternative...

A quote is FREE. What is your family's security worth?

All Week on a Rice University project..Safer and Greener

We worked all weekend finishing a project for Rice University...boy, am I bone tired! But now they are safer and GREENER - more secure and saving energy at the same time.

But what makes me feel good is when events like Saturday happened. Students we encountered volunteered how much COOLER the rooms were after our film was installed.
One young lady came up to us and said "what a difference our film had made in her room." She said it "dropped the temperature over 10 degrees!"

During Hurricane IKE the Rice students were in jeopardy from unprotected glass. They were taken from one un-secured building to another, so the danger of flying glass was unavoidable. Several buildings lost windows and were heavily damaged by water, etc.

Not any more - at least in one location. On this dorm Rice has "armored their glass." They are not only saving enough energy to pay for the film over time, they are now in a hurricane-secure location so they can "shelter in place." The film has passed the Large Missile test (4.5 lb. Level C) and the PA-201, 203 Miami Dade Protocols.

Because the same film is blast-rated (GSA Level 2), this young Rice student and others like her would even be safe from an explosion outside their dorm rooms, as well as
wind-borne debris during a hurricane.

On the ground floor students (or any homeowner) are secure from a burglar breaking through the glass, keeping both students and their valuables safe.

In fact someone tried to break into one of our clients' homes 5 days after we installed it last year, -- and FAILED to get in. What a difference it can make - no burglary! No loss of personal assets. No water damage during a storm.

Our films are "carbon negative" - meaning that they save more energy than it takes to make the film! It is an "Energy Star" product that also generates 1-4 LEED credits.

We anchored the Rice U Armor Glass film to the frames because it is tempered glass. We also used a special light film on their frosted glass to avoid changing its color. Yet it still cut close to 50% of the solar heat getting into the rooms! The other film we used cuts over 55% of the solar heat entering the glass. All of the films cut 99% of deadly, harmful UV rays.

What a wild busy year it has become...I enjoy knowing that what we do PROTECTS people and their property.

I can't find a thing wrong with that...not ever. Not anywhere.

Another Installation for Another NASA "Rocket Man"...

If NASA ASTRONAUTS TRUST IT -- shouldn't you? Can it be anything but a GOOD thing?

Today Armor Glass did an installation for yet another ROCKETMAN - a NASA employee.
On his house. His "castle." Why?

Today's Rocketman chose ARMOR GLASS Security Film for one reason -- to "Armor His Family's Home's Glass." To protect his family. From Burglars. From Solar Heat. From Hurricanes. From UV --While saving enough money over time on energy costs to pay for it. And while spending a fraction of what shutters and impact glass cost!

WHAT do America's NASA Rocket men (and women) know that Joe and Jane Americans SHOULD know?

Today's "Rocketman" did it to avoid having to "board up" during Hurricane-force winds. He did it to keep burglars from breaking into his house while he is at work leading America's space race. He did it for peace of mind.

Isn't that something SMART you expect from our nation's top technology gurus?

Even the CLEAR film cuts 20% of Solar Heat, and the Tints cut up to 79% . ALL FILMS CUT 99% of the violent UV rays that destroy interiors and cause skin cancer, everywhere.

NASA'S ROCKET-MEN and ROCKET-WOMEN KNOW this -- that glass is the WEAKEST link of every building -- yours, mine, theirs, everybody's.

Come on. Are windows hard to break? Birds have done it. Rocks in your front yard will do it. Golf Balls will bedevil any homeowner insane enough to buy a home on a golf course where I can make the two shots I know -- the hook and the slice!

BURGLARS, BURGLARS< BURGLARS love cheap glass --what you have on your place today. They find it "no problem at all" to get into your place and take your "stuff."

Why make it easy for them? We did a lady's house last summer. Five days later someone tried to break in -- and failed!

Young children can break glass - even unintentionally by running into it.

Thieves now take hammers to smash glass in jewelry stores -- walking away with hundreds of thousands of dollars in merchandise in less than 3 minutes!

Bare glass is a 5,000 year old technology. It's the Model A running the Daytona 500 in the age of BMW's and Cadillac s. Time to "armor" it!

A ConocoPhilips engineer once informed me (as we installed our film on his house) that he calculated that a break in a window during a hurricane "results in "internal presseure" that causes "50,000 lbs of UPLIFT on a roof." That causes UPLIFT on the roof. That is what blows the house apart -- windborne debris taking out a window. It even happens in tornadoes.

NASA's Rocketman and women are protecting their castles.

Shouldn't you?
