Typhoon Hits GUAM ..Sign of early Hurricane season here?

A Typhoon (Hurricane) just hit GUAM in the Pacific Ocean with winds over 100 mph. Again, this is another storm arriving EARLY before the storm season is really supposed to start.  To me, it is another sign that we could face fierce, unpredictable weather.

Today, severe storms will hit from Central Texas all the way up to the Midwest.  Get Prepared!  Blown out windows from wind-borne debris is what leads to roof uplift and structural collapse. We are living in "houses of straw" while facing bigger threats to our biggest investment.

Mile wide Tornadoes in Texas; Softball size HAIL "that looked like SNOW"...

It was reported that Texas had at least 8 tornadoes over the weekend. One was reported to be "a mile wide." The Texas panhandle near Amarillo got softball size HAIL that looked like a snow storm.

I heard that wolf howling last night over my roof....

I took this photo of this ancient glass on a building in Norway - in 2011.

Apparently for centuries people wanted a 'window with a view' no matter how crude it was. Glass is a 5,000 year old technology....

Australia entered its first day of fall (which is our first day of spring in the northern hemisphere) and was hit by a massive hailstorm with baseball size hail that locals say is "unprecedented."  They had never witnessed anything like it. could this be a harbinger of what we will be facing when fall comes to the U.S.A.?

Expect More CAT 4 and 5 storms - Might even need a CAT 6 category

Our winter in the northern hemisphere is summer south of the equator.  And this year they are getting huge cyclones (we call them hurricanes) with winds exceeding 160 miles per hour!  Some of the gusts exceeded 200 miles per hour!

When "Pam" hit Australia it was classified a CAT "6" at one point! Up until now CAT 5 has been the highest rating for a storm.

Scientists think we will get more of these giant storms, even if we get fewer of them. That means what we get will tear buildings to pieces unless we have armored our existing buildings to handle the stress. From the above article we quote:

"It's very simple physics," Professor Matt England, a climate scientist at the University of NSW, says. "A warmer ocean leads to a more intense cyclone. The model projections show a robust increase of those category 4 and 5 strength storms," he says. "You're loading the dice for a much greater chance of a higher intensity storm."

Much of this intensity is due to warmer water in the Pacific. Our Storms come from the Atlantic, which is also the hottest on record.

Bottom line: Hotter water = bigger storms. It's just a fact.
