How Hurricanes and Tornadoes KILL Buildings - Because of a 5,000 Year Old Technology
Architects still don't know about it. Building owners and Homeowners have no idea. It's the hidden threat to their safety no one thinks about.
They live through hurricanes, tornadoes and burglaries year after year not realizing their six figure investment in their building or house is at risk for one simple reason. It depends on a 5,000 year old technology that a baby could break - its window glass.
How does a hurricane or tornado destroy a building?
A study of the four 2004 hurricanes that struck Florida called "Project Safe Windows" found the dirty little culprit is WIND-BORNE debris, breaking the windows. The winds penetrate the structure, seeking a way out (while opening it to water damage, mold, etc.) The easy way for the wind to escape is by uplifting the roof. The walls blow out, as shown in the above photo.
But those buildings with window protection SURVIVED.
Architects know that buildings are designed to withstand external winds, not internal pressure. A broken window opens the gates of hell, dooming the structure to destruction or severe damage, inside and outside.
To protect your biggest investment, ARMOR YOUR GLASS since it is the weakest link of every structure. The easiest and least costly way to do that is not by shutters or heavy impact glass, but by applying Armor Glass security film to the inside of each window. DONE. It's 24/7 protection 365 days of the year.
What about tornadoes? Tornadoes are condensed hurricanes, with even higher winds. Tornado winds do the same as hurricanes, hurling debris through glass, causing it to become a thousand shards of shrapnel and exploding the structural apart. While nothing can protect a building from a direct hit by a tornado, Armor Glass can protect nearby buildings with windows that are hit by wind-borne debris.
Armor Glass film is explosion rated. We have put it on offices housing government offices requiring that level of protection. We have applied the identical film to homes of teachers and astronauts.
It comes in both clear and tinted versions to cut solar heat, paying for itself in energy savings. It has prevented break ins of our customers by burglars. It has been applied to schools for shooter protection (delaying entry).
Check out the videos of how it works on our website. Ask for a Free quote.
Don't let your home or office end up looking like the house above. Armor Your Glass to protect your biggest asset. It will pay for itself in more ways than one. It's carbon negative, saving more energy than it takes to make. That makes it "Green+Security." What's there not to love about that?
Armor Glass sells hurricane/tornado explosion-rated security window film. The same film was installed on federal buildings in Washington DC after 9/11.

A FIRST - Insurance company requires Hurricane Security Film
I received a call today from a business wanting a quote. It turns out that their INSURANCE company told them that they MUST have hurricane film protection on their windows.
That is the first time I have heard of such a thing - it makes perfect sense since it would reduce the damage claims from both a storm --or even a burglary attempt...
Apparently people (and insurance companies) are getting smart. Window glass is the weakest link of every building. Once it is breached you have internal damage - or theft. Our security film has prevented break-ins for our clients and eliminates the need to "board up" from a future hurricane. In the meantime it is saving $$$ on energy costs, enough to pay for itself.
It doesn't get any better than that.

Tornado Protection - What works?
After a devastating hit Moore Oklahoma last year, new building codes have been implemented - but are they enough?
I personally saw the devastation in Moore when I delivered supplies after the tornado hit. I took a few photos to document the destructive power of this killer.
From what I have read about them in articles like these, I don't think so.
Protecting garage doors is a good idea but they never mention protecting the GLASS, the weakest link of every building.WHY is that important?
Tornadoes are like condensed hurricanes--winds spinning around a core at furious speeds. After four major hurricanes hit Florida in 2004 a study was made to find out why some houses survived while those next door were destroyed. They discovered the culprit - wind-borne debris.
When wind-borne debris hits a window and penetrates, wind rushes inside the structure and looks for a way out. The easy way is to uplift the roof. Basically it blows the building apart. Window glass is a 5,000 year old technology that hasn't changed in all that time. Glass can still be broken by a child or a small stone.
So unless cities like Moore and Oklahoma City also require windows to be beefed up " the "upgrades" will do little to protect the houses from future storms. Our security window film "fortifies" the glass to be like an impact window--only for far less cost than buying impact windows. Our security film is rated for a "Large Missile" Impact, which is a 4.5 lb. object shot into a test window (see the video on our website). Think of it like a tornado throwing debris into your glass. Once a window breaks, its "game over" for the building.
Not that a film would protect a building from a direct hit by a tornado and 200 mile per hour winds, but it would protect nearby structures taking hits that are within the "Large Missile" category. It can take a 175 mile an hour wind (without impact).
To see how it works check out our website at www.ArmorGlass.com (its a temporary site as we move our main site to a new set of servers in the next few days)
Tornadoes, hurricanes, burglars, solar heat - all are enemies of your glass. It remains the easiest way to break into a building, or destroy it in a storm.
"Armor your glass" and 'go green' at the same time. Our tinted security film is 'carbon negative' meaning that it saves more energy than it takes to make it. It cuts enough solar heat from entering a building to pay for itself over time.

Testimonial on Broken Window Protection
Armor Glass received the following letter from a customer we would like to share:
Gentlemen:
Tiki Island, Texas.
Here are the photos Jim sent:
Gentlemen:
Thought
you might like to see a couple of photos of a window that was
protected by Armor Glass. Your Company installed the shielding on my
windows last September. In late January, while I was out of town, the
window shown here was apparently hit by an object.
There
were high winds reported in the area at the time and I'm assuming the
"object" was, in all likelihood, a bird. The glass is being replace
this week and I will be contacting you to have it "re-Armored".
Regards,
JimTiki Island, Texas.

Asia Pollution Increasing USA Storm Strength
I new article published says that pollution in Asia is increasing the strength of storms over the United States - by at least 10% so far.
Photo: Beijing, China is hidden below thick layer of smog and pollution, mostly from coal burning power plants.
We quote from the article:
"Pollution from China's coal-burning power plants is pumping up winter storms over the northwest Pacific Ocean and changing North America's weather, a new study finds.
Northwest Pacific winter storms are now 10 percent stronger than they were 30 years ago, before Asian countries began their industrial boom, according to research published April 14 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
North America will be hardest hit by the intensifying storms, which move from west to east, said lead study author Yuan Wang, an atmospheric scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif."
Conclusion: Storms will intensify - and glass remains the weakest link of every structure. Armor your glass.

SHOOTING AT Houston TV station - How to Protect Your Workplace from This Threat.
The shooting at Channel 13's station by a woman--the second shooting there in a month-- is another example of why people need our Armor Glass protection on their offices as well as their homes.
For homes, we have been applying it for hurricanes and burglars--it just kept a burglar from being home alone with my CPA's wife.
Without Armor Glass, the next shooter at a TV station or an office or a
school could easily blow out the glass and go inside in seconds - there
is nothing to stop them.
Armor Glass is that invisible, life-protecting barrier.
Newtown has changed life in America. It was a wake up call that it doesn't take much to break through glass with a gun so that a shooter can be on top of people before they can even react. The glass blows out with a shot or two and then the shooter is in the building.
The occupants at Sandy Hook had no chance --but if Armor Glass security film had been on the doors--with a lock--many if not all of those kids could have been saved. Armor Glass security films are bonded to the frames with a special sealant and would have delayed entry. The shooter has to shoot of silhouette of himself to get inside - that takes ammo and time, time needed for police to arrive, time for those inside to go to a safe room and lock-down. Buying even a few seconds of time could mean life versus death in the next episode of gun rage.
Last week we installed our Large Missile impact rated film in a church school in the DFW area. They kept increasing the scope of work to include more windows - one man pointed to a window and said "my daughter has a class inside that room and if I have to pay for it myself I want your Armor Glass film on that window." So we did. The cost is still a fraction of the alternatives--steel shutters or impact glass.
We get calls from schools nationwide all the time --everyone is worried about it.

Selling the 2 ply tire vs 4 ply --How to avoid being cheated on window film
Don't get cheated.
Check out the photos below. One is a 2 ply tire and the other is a 4 ply. They look identical don't they? Don't be fooled.
They are not. Neither is window film.
Window film is like tires in a way - you have 2 ply tires (cheap, thin) and 4 ply tires (thicker, safer.) How would you feel if someone sold you a 2 ply tire claiming it was "just as good" as a 4 ply tire? How would you feel if it blew out on the highway and perhaps killed members of your family?
It's called cheating. It happens all the time in the window film business (as in any business.) Some people sell cheap 2 mil solar film. Others sell 4 mil film as "security" film when its not.
Yet our competitors will quote a homeowner or building manager a 4 mil film claiming "it is just as good" as 8 mil. And the homeowner thinks he saved money.
All he/she got was cheated. Usually the homeowner is not even told the thickness of the film being quoted. And once it is on the window, you can't really tell.
Yes, they "saved" money but they didn't get what they wanted - a security film rated for a Large Missile impact from either a burglar's blows or from tree limbs, hail and street signs hitting the glass during a 100-plus mile per hour hurricane.
Be sure you are comparing apples to apples when getting quotes from vendors. Insist on a quote for 8 mil security film that has passed the Large Missile Impact Level C test. Make sure they put the film thickness on the quote - most of the time they won't even mention it, hoping you won't notice.
But don't fell for a 4 mil quote as being the "equivalent" of a 8 mil. They are dangling the 2-ply tire in front of you. It is inferior. It is a trick. An orange is not an apple.

Armor Glass® sells
a 8 mil hurricane-explosion rated film. It is the same film used on federal buildings in DC after 9/11. It is ASTM 1886/1996 Large Missile Impact (Level C) rated. It takes an 8 mil thick film to pass the Large Missile impact test (a 4.5 lb. 2x4 is shot into the window which has the film on it.) No thinner film will pass that test.
